Marfino

Nikolskoye-Prozorovskoye Manor Pestovskoye Reservoir Clubhouse Championship Course

The Marfino manor is a monument of architecture of the 18th—19th centuries. At various periods, it was owned by representatives of distinguished aristocratic families such as the Golitsyns, the Saltykovs, and the Panins. It sits on a bank of the dammed-up Uchi River.

At the end of the 17th century, the manor was owned by Peter I’s educator and associate, B. A. Golitsyn. The manor ensemble, with its scenic park and ordered garden, dates back mostly to the end of the 18th century, when Marfino was owned by the Saltykovs. That period survives in the two kennel buildings and two elegant garden-houses (Classical). The church (built between 1701 and 1707) was designed by the bonded architect V. Belozyorov.

Today it houses a well-known sanatorium.

The main constructions, such as the manor house, the grand staircase leading to the wharf, the bridge, and service buildings, were designed in the pseudo-Gothic style in 1837—1838 (under the manor’s new owner lady S. V. Panina) by the architect M. D. Bykovsky.
